ABOUT
We are NOT a "lifestyle brand!" Our customers appreciate
good design and refuse to be stereotyped into any one lifestyle.
People are not one dimensional and KISER as a brand is no different.
KISER
Born in Nigeria to
American parents,
Kiser Haydar Barnes discovered his love for graphics after
being introduced to graffiti while attending high
school in Israel.
Influenced by early Hip-Hop culture, Kiser began to create
his own visual language inspired by the African and Middle-Eastern
societies he experienced growing up. He went on to study graphic
design at The
Rochester Institute of Technology where
he refined his vision beyond street art to encompass almost
everything graphic.
In the summer of 2004, inspired by
the vibrant streetwear scene and artist t-shirt lines,
Kiser decided to bring his unique voice to the table.
Armed with limited edition t-shirts and an ironing board
for display, Kiser sold his first shirts while
avoiding cops on the streets of Soho.
Soon boutique buyer and editors took notice and the KISER
line was born.
Sometimes political
and sometimes playful, but always balanced,
the KISER line is based on the concept of "Hunt Beauty." Hunt
Beauty is defined as the pursuit of truth and originality.
The KISER logo with the crossed AK-47's and flower represent
an uncompromising devotion to this ideal. On a more literal
level, AK-47's are graphic symbols for revolution and the
flower represents the creative spirit. The two icons together demonstrate
the continued need for change within the world of fashion,
graphics and the visual culture that surrounds us.
From selling out of
a box on the streets to being carried in retail stores
around the world, the KISER line continues to evolve while
always maintaining a multicultural
perspective. Kiser has also created work
for Chloe,
DJ
A-Trak ,
HBO,
The
Brooklyn Circus and
Timberland among
others.
